Riddle: What’s high in the middle and round on the ends?

You guessed it 🙂

We returned to our Columbus, Ohio hometown in April and May. When we arrived the trees had no leaves, but the flowering redbuds, dogwoods, etc. were blooming bright & colorful. By the time we left, we had witnessed the Ohio Spring we always looked forward to seeing. We camped at Pastime Park in the village of Plain City known for its Amish roots.

Ohio gave us the opportunity to connect with old friends & neighbors…

Fred & Connie Ward (known 50 years). Worthington neighbors, brother & sister Rick & Sigrid Paulsen (known 52 years).

Family visits included…

Me’s brother Scott & wife Jill, She’s sister Jo and hubby Richard, and many days spent with Me’s father Ron and stepmom Dorba who plied us with many DELICIOUS meals, lots of laughs, games of dominos, and a day trip to Springfield where dad grew up and went to Wittenberg University. Me’s paternal grandparents are buried next to the university at Ferncliff Cemetery.

We also got to visit some cherished Ohio landmarks like the Bob Evans Farm in Rio Grande…

… and Great American Ballpark (best ballpark in America) and Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame…

Yes, the Reds won that game 14-11 over the Brewers. We also ran into fellow church members we hadn’t seen in 30 years, Ken & Nancy Foertsch who have worked as ushers at the stadium for over 20 years.

It was a great visit to the state that contains all of the first half of our lives. Though Florida has been home since 1992, we will always be thankful for our midwest upbringing and will always be Buckeye and Reds fans 🙂
