Ennis, Montana

Situated along the Madison River which is one of the rivers that flows through Yellowstone National Park, and between the Spanish Peaks and Tobacco Root mountains, we looked forward to this destination for several reasons. The beauty of the area, the proximity to Yellowstone, and the fact that most of our family would be staying nearby for a whole week! We stayed at Ennis RV Village.

Our daughters and their families rented a fabulous 4-bedroom, 2-bath house in McAllister about 12 miles away. The house lent itself well to many family meals, games, and hijinx. Also a great starting point for day trips to downtown Ennis, Virginia City, and Yellowstone.

We all ate delicious pizza at Burnt Tree Brewery in Ennis and met a couple with a dog that could be a twin to our beloved family dog, Tucker, who died in 2016.

A vigorous hike up the Summit View Trail above Ennis Lake.

Virginia City is an 1860’s gold rush mining town that is being restored.

An original building made for a great backdrop for family photos…

Our oldest grandson pans for gems at the nearby River of Gold experience.
