She ‘n Me RV in AZ

We made it! 2,425 miles from Tamarac, Florida to Surprise, Arizona. The journey has been epic with stops in Ft. Myers, Bradenton, and Live Oak, FL, Robertsdale, AL, New Orleans & Iowa, LA, Houston, San Antonio, & Fort Stockton, TX, Las Cruces, NM, Tucson, AZ ending in Surprise. All along the way, we marveled at the great beauty in nature and fascinating man-made cities connected by an amazing infrastructure. We enjoyed reconnecting with family and being together just She & Me.

Towing an 11,000-pound fifth-wheel at times requires white-knuckled focus when driving through rain-soaked construction zones and congested cities. It requires keen attention when pulling off the highway for fuel to make sure no underpasses or gas station canopies are lower than the 13.5-foot height of Diggs. Then there are the interstate on-ramps that are not long enough for Tuggs & Diggs to get up to speed in order to merge with the 85-MPH Texas traffic. Fortunately, God was with us in that nearly every single time we needed to merge, the right lane was clear. Thank you, Lord!

Except for a couple of drizzly days along the way we had great weather although cool. We have been running our more than adequate heaters every night. In fact, the worst weather of our trip hit when we reached Phoenix, AZ. A VERY uncharacteristic heavy rain was falling as we drove around the city. As we pulled into our new neighborhood, Sunflower RV Resort, a freak thunderstorm with hail hit as we waited to be guided to our lot. The storm cleared quickly and we were able to back into our site between two mobile homes.

We shall remain here at 16501 N El Mirage Rd, #399, Surprise, AZ 85378 until late March when we return to Florida for the Spring. The address above is our mailing address until March 15th. There are over 1,100 sites at this resort. The F-35 fighter jets from Luke Air Force Base have been training above the resort daily. Even though they are quite loud, we celebrate that sound of freedom 🙂

Posts to this blog will now be less frequent while we enjoy the charms of the local mountains & desert while visiting with Me’s mother and brother and family.

HI Guys, glad you made it to Arizona. We hope you are having a great time. Jim and I were checking out some Class A and Class C RV’s to possible purchase. Now that you have been on the road for a few weeks we were wondering how you are liking RV life. Is there much to do at the campgrounds? We wonder if we would get bored just stating in one location especially since we wouldn’t have a car to drive. Can you give any comments on how we might like it? Thanks, Kim Rosario

Looks awesome! Live Oak, FL…pretty little place where I picked up my chocolate lab Walter 4 years ago. Pretty cool that you guys had your own daily airshow! Looks like it has been an eventful few months and a lot of fun! Good to see you’ll be visiting FL again soon too!
