We were disappointed and interested to find out that the 1893 Salt Lake City Temple is undergoing a massive, 6-year, incredibly expensive renovation including mounting the entire building on “springs” to protect it from earthquake damage. The entire structure was surrounded by scaffolding. A scale model in the Conference Center shows how the building will look when finished.

  • * Note: we acknowledge that Mormons have a significant influence in Salt Lake City and Utah in general as well as other western cities. Our interest in Mormon landmarks is purely historical. Followers of Jesus Christ consider Mormonism to be a pseudo-Christian cult. For more information on Mormon beliefs, see The Truth About Mormonism.
